Under bright sunshine and a cool breeze, the 10th annual Buellton Barbecue Bonanza drew thousands of residents to River View Park on Saturday. The free community event included an afternoon of food and drinks, live music, games for kids and a prize raffle. Staff from the Buellton Senior Center prepared the barbecue, which was provided by the city.

“This is one of several family events that Buellton draws us to,” said Lompoc resident Cristy Costa, who brought her sons, Tyler, 5, and Tanner, 8, both members of South Coast Karate in Lompoc and Buellton. The karate students put on a demonstration for the attendees near the barbecue section of the park. “I think it’s great to have this event for the community and for the community to provide different services for the kids,” said Diane Smith, who, along with other volunteers from Church at the Crossroads, set up inflatable water slides for the kids. jfoster@syvjournal.com
