Catfish still the best opportunity; fly-lined mackerel, packaged dough baits and nightcrawlers produced some nice stringers, with kickers to 4 pounds. The narrows, Jackrabbit and Little Cachuma bays have been all holding fish.

The bass bite has been day to day once again, with the evening producing the best. Jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and drop shot have all produced at times. Crappie action is fair on mini-jigs and small spinners in Santa Cruz Bay and the narrows. Trout came on a little bit for share anglers in the Mohawk area, though trollers didn’t fare so well. The first 4,000-pound trout plant is slated for Thursday, Nov. 1 from the Calaveras trout farm, which should get the bit going well. Bowfishing has been good for those willing to put in the effort and have been seen along the banks and shallow coves all over the lake. Mid-morning is the best time to get in on the action.
