To
celebrate the heritage of early Santa Ynez Valley schools, the Santa Ynez
Valley Historical Society Museum has delved into its historical archives and
collected photos from
Valley schools to create a one of a kind exhibit of early Valley
schoolhouses dating back to 1900, class and faculty pictures from 1880 through
1960, a variety of school memorabilia, high school yearbooks, diplomas,
athletic team photos and much more! Some of the photos that will be exhibited
come from the collections of local residents.
The
museum’s historic 1925 Model T school bus, on loan from the Sanchez family,
will be revved up and on display at the exhibit opening as well.
Valley
locals will have an opportunity to help the museum staff identify people and
events in the old photographs as well. The opening and reception for “School
Days in the Santa Ynez Valley” is 3-5 p.m. March 16, and the exhibit will
remain on display through June 22.
There is a $5 admission fee for non-members.
