An Enchanted Evening
A
night of sparkles, wands and crowns atop young girls glistened throughout the
Veteran’s Hall while the Stuart C. Gildred Family
YMCA held its 2nd Annual Royal Princess Ball last month. With just under 200 in
attendance, father’s and daughters danced the night away with AMS Entertainment
energized with songs such as the “Macarena,” “High School Musical,” and of
course the hand-motioned “YMCA.” The abundance of food was provided by many
local vendors, while Christine’s Photography again captured the radiant night
with her selection of packaged photos.
Many
of the girls played the part of princesses dressed in ballroom gowns while
their father’s groomed themselves in suits or the occasional cowboy attire.
Many of the girls had been excited for weeks, and a few moms couldn’t resist
the temptation to sneak a quick peak at the magical
night’s events under way.
With
a fifty percent increase in attendance from last year, many participants
considered the Royal Princess Ball a huge success; many dad’s cherished the
opportunity to spend the evening with their daughter as events specialized for
them are rare. Several families are already awaiting next year’s Ball.
With
the continued commitment to building strong families, the YMCA will also be
holding a Mother-Son Game Day April 27th at its facility including a BBQ,
games, prizes, and a fun-filled bonding day tentatively from 10am-1pm. Once
again, this event and the Game Day to come could not have been possible without
the help of local volunteers and the dedication by the YMCA’s Program Committee
and staff.
