Rotating Repertory offers two plays by Reza

PCPA Theaterfest is presenting two plays by Yazmina Reza in rotating repertory: “Art,” March 13-April 12, and “Life X 3,” March 28-April 20.

“Art” won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play. It’s a comedy in which three men are involved with a painting, bringing up questions about male friendship, intellectual honesty and what really is or isn’t art.

“Life X 3” is “an examination of parenthood and career, with a dash of physics ... wrapped up in a triple replay of dinner guests who arrive a night early to meet their foodless and unprepared hosts.”

PCPA Theaterfest, 800 S. College Dr., Santa Maria, is affiliated with Allan Hancock College. For more information, call 928-7731.

‘Angels’ in Santa Ynez

“Angels in the Dust,” a documentary about HIV-AIDs orphans in South Africa, will be presented by the Santa Ynez Film Group on April 5, along with a personal appearance by the documentary’s Academy Award winning producer/director, Louise Hogarth.

The film tells the story of Marion Cloete, who with her husband and daughters, left a privileged life in Johannesburg to build a village and school – Botshabelo – which provides shelter, food and education to more than 550 South African children orphaned by AIDs. She also sponsors a campaign to cell bracelets made by South African women who have AIDs. The bracelets will be available for purchase at the film showing.

Hogarth, whose documentary “Panama Deception” won an Academy Award in 1994 for best feature documentary, will answer audience questions after the screening.

The presentation is co-sponsored by Dream Out Loud Film Production Co. and will take place at Los Olivos Grange, with doors opening at 6:45 p.m. Suggested donation is $4.
