A 59-year-old male from Solvang was cited for being in possession of marijuana after an officer pulled him over because the light on his rear license plate was not working.

The officer smelled a faint odor of marijuana. The man admitted he had the drug in a bucket.

 

Arrest

Alisal and Mission Drive, Solvang

A 25-year-old male from Solvang was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol after police responded to a hit and run accident. It was reported that the man had been involved in the accident but had fled the scene.

The man claimed he left the scene of the accident because he “was nervous.” He admitted to drinking three 12-ounce beers before the accident occurred. The man refused to take field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

A 29-year-old male from Solvang was cited for being in possession of marijuana after an officer pulled him over because his rear license plate light was not working.

A 23-year-old male from Ventura was cited for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana after an officer pulled him over.

3000 block of Tivola St., Santa Ynez

A 42-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown suspect(s) broke into his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet, which contained credit cards. The man reported the incident after he received a call from his credit card company, which was calling to verify some charges made on the card. The case was recommended for a detective follow-up.

 

Grand Theft

1300 block of Cheyenne Drive, Santa Ynez

A 57-year-old female from Santa Ynez reported that an unknown suspect(s) stole her purse and medical bag from her unlocked vehicle. The reported theft occurred at the victim’s residence. The case was suspended pending leads.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 40-year-old male form Santa Barbara was arrested for Grand Theft from a person after casino surveillance caught the man taking a $100 cash-out slip from an 88-year-old female. He also was arrested for providing false information to a peace officer after he provided an officer with false identification information. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Attempted Commercial Burglary

1214 Mission Drive, Solvang (Buellflat Rock Company)

A 56-year-old male from Solvang reported that an unknown suspect(s) pried open a bathroom window and attempted to enter the business and steal property. The case was suspended pending leads.

 

Lost Property

2879 Grand Ave., Los Olivos

A 23-year-old male from Santa Ynez reported loosing his wallet, which contained his Green Card.

 

Petty Theft

1687 Copenhagen Drive, Solvang (Copenhagen T’s & Gifts)

A 42-year old man reported that a 55-year-old male, a 50-year-old female, and a 20-year-old female, entered his store and stole several items. After replaying the surveillance tape the victim discovered that the man and the three women had taken five items, which totaled a value of about $27. The case was suspended pending leads.

Warrant Arrest

Highway 246, West of Solvang

A 22-year-old female from Solvang was arrested for having an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

 

Citation

Eastbound on Highway 154 at Baseline, Santa Ynez

A 33-year-old male from Nipomo was cited for driving without a valid California Driver’s License and no proof of car insurance. The man’s car was impounded for 30 days.

Burglary

2886 Mission Drive, Solvang (El Rancho Market)

A 39-year-old male from Solvang reported that two 16-year-old males entered the store and stole some beef jerky and a bottle of Starbucks Frapachino. The case was submitted to Juvenile Probation for review.

Illegal Trash Dumping

500 block of Atterdag Road, Solvang

Police responded to a call that someone had found illegally dumped trash at the Solvang School. Some of the trash had an address and name on it. Police contacted the person listed at the address.

The owner’s boyfriend claimed that he had paid his gardener to remove the trash from the residence. The man visited the police department to identify the trash, but claimed he had never seen the trash. No arrests have been made and the gardener has not returned the police’s phone calls.

Lost Property for Destruction

1700 block of Mission Drive, Solvang

An officer located a small baggie of suspected controlled substance, which another officer believed to belong to two suspects who were arrested the night before near where the baggie was found.
