$10,000
trout
The
Eastern Sierra’s Trout Opener is April 26, and Berkley is again releasing 250
tagged trout in area lakes. Each tagged trout is worth $100 in tackle, but one
trout – Jake II – is worth $10,000. The lucky angler that catches
Jake II and is using Berkley line and bait will receive a check for $10,000.
The lakes
receiving Berkley tagged trout include Upper Twin, Lower Twin, Bridgeport
Reservoir, Convict Lake, June Lake, Gull Lake and Crowley Lake.
“The
Original Jake, the first $10,000 Berkley trout, was caught in 2006 by Jarren
Klohr of Yucaipa using Berkley Vanish and a Berkley Micro Tube,” said Andrew
Marks, Berkley Marketing Manager. “We have released another 250 Trout each year
for the opener and another Berkley tagged trout, Jake II, is worth $10,000.
There is no reason why Jake II can’t be caught, as was done a few years ago.”
The
Berkley team will be at Culver’s Sporting Goods in Bishop on April 25 with
special promotions and guest speakers. Buzz Ramsey and Marlon Meade will be on
hand to help anglers select the right products to catch trout.
“The
Eastern Sierra’s trout opener is a special time in California,” Ramsey said. “Using
the correct equipment is of the utmost importance. I really enjoy answering
questions and pointing new anglers in the right direction. I am always excited
to see more and more people getting involved in the fishing sport.”
All 250
trout with the red 2008 tag must be caught on Saturday and turned into one of
the following redemption centers by 7:15 p.m. on April 26th to receive the $100
tackle packages.
