Commercial Burglary

2886 Mission Drive, Solvang (El Rancho Market)

A 46-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested for commercial burglary after he allegedly went into El Rancho Market and picked up a coffee press, which he attempted to exchange for its cash value. A store employee recognized the man from a surveillance tape that was taken a week prior to the incident, which revealed the man fraudulently returning two bottles of liquor for cash. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

A 36-year-old male from Solvang was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. His driver license was valid.

Mission Drive and Alisal Road, Solvang

A 38-year-old male from Santa Maria was cited for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, which was partially burned in a pipe.

 

Petty Theft

1984 Old Mission Drive, Solvang

(New Frontiers Market)

A 55-year-old female reported that her purse had been stolen from the passenger’s seat of her car. There were no suspects. The car was unlocked. The case was suspended pending leads.

A 47-year-old male from Los Olivos was arrested for driving without a valid California Driver License or any identification after an officer pulled him over for a license plate violation. He was booked into the Lompoc Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 58-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for being drunk in public after police received reports from casino security that the man refused to leave the casino when asked to. The officer reported that the man’s eyes were “bloodshot and watery.” He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

A 56-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested for being drunk in public after police received a report from casino security that the man had interfered with a citizen’s arrest. The officer determined that the man could not take care of himself. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

An 18-year-old male from Lompoc was cited for driving without a valid California Driver License after an officer pulled him over because his license plate was not displayed correctly.

Counterfeit Bill

3545 Edison Street, Santa Ynez

(76 Gas Station)

A 31-year-old female reported that a 40-year-old male attempted to purchase gasoline with a fake $100 bill. He claimed he didn’t know that the bill was fake and that a friend had given it to him. The officer was not able to prove that the man had any involvement in attempting to pass a fake bill. The case was recommended for a patrol follow-up.

3585 Sagunto St., Santa Ynez

(Lady Bug Boutique)

A 40-year-old female from Santa Ynez was arrested for petty theft with a prior offense after a store employee reported that the suspect was shoplifting from the store. The suspect left the store, and the employee followed her down the street and found the woman wearing a black shirt, which still had a tag on it. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

(El Rancho Market)

A 71-year-old female reported that a 55-year-old female made purchases on her El Rancho Account, totaling over $400. The woman claimed that the suspect was her former housekeeper. The case was recommended for a patrol follow-up.

1100 block of Cota Street, Santa Ynez

A 40-year-old female reported that an unknown suspect(s) stole her purse from her car, which was parked in her driveway and unlocked. The purse and its contents were valued at $845. The case was recommended for a detective follow-up.

 

Battery with serious injury

200 block of North Refugio Road, Santa Ynez (Santa Ynez Riverbed)

A 20-year-old male from Solvang reported that a 21-year-old male, also from Solvang, punched him in the face causing serious harm, after the two got in to a verbal altercation. The victim claimed that the suspect had been drinking all night. The case was recommended for a detective follow-up.

3000 block of Pine St., Santa Ynez

A 43-year-old male reported that two male suspects, both minors, stole a John Deere Gator utility cart from Santa Ynez School’s baseball field. The minors were issued citations and the case was submitted to Juvenile Probation.
