Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Santa Ynez Valley Garden Tour will take place on May 10, offering stops at some of the Valley’s most elegant private green spaces.

The theme of the tour is “Just Beyond the Garden Gate.” Proceeds will benefit the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Society and Museum and Carriage House.

This is the fourth year for the tour, which has proved popular in the past. The tour will finish up at the Historical Society Museum with a late afternoon wine and appetizer reception.

Participants will see three of the Valley’s most prized landscapes. For those who are garden hobbyists, there will be exposure to innovative ideas, as well as a chance to appreciate the Valley’s natural beauty.

The tour begins at the Historical Museum in Santa Ynez, 3596 Sagunto St. It will include a wine reception back at the Museum, where tickets are on sale.

Participants will be given a driving map to the featured properties. At each garden, there will be members of the Historical Society’s Garden Club stationed to give information and safety tips. While they are at the reception, raffle prizes will be distributed. Ticket holders will be entered into the raffle drawing when they return to the Museum reception.

Tickets are $30 each, and also will be sold at the Book Loft in Solvang. Tickets also may be purchased by telephone, (805) 688-7889.

Letters to the Society should be mailed to P.O. Box 181, Santa Ynez, CA 93460.
