Pilates
A
Pilates open house will be offered at Performance
Fitness in Solvang from May 5 to May 10, with a focus on illustrating the
method’s health benefits.

Local cattlewomen
hold Ag Day at Fillmore Elementary
Fifth
grade students at Fillmore Elementary School in Lompoc recently made their own
jerky at the “Beef Up for Food Safety” workshop held at the school’s annual Ag
Day, presented by the Santa Barbara County Cattlewomen.
More than 180 students learned about the
nutrients in beef as well as the four points of food safety — clean, separate,
cook and chill — by making their own beef jerky.
Santa
Barbara County Cattlewomen members Jackie Jaenicke
and Barbara Wilson were assisted by Lompoc High School agriculture students
Alex Morgan and Kelley Rodgers for a fun and successful day promoting
beef. The fifth graders did all the work
and in reward for their efforts enjoyed over 20 pounds of jerky.
