Sheriff seeks information about
homicide
The Santa
Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is seeking help from the public to solve a
homicide in Isla Vista.
During
the early morning hours of May 31, 53-year-old Gregory Ghan was a victim of a
vicious attack in Isla Vista. The assault occurred sometime during the late
evening or early morning hours in front of the Isla Vista Neighborhood Clinic.
As a result of injuries sustained during the assault, Ghan was placed on life
support at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara.
Ghan was
taken off of life support June 10 and passed away as a result of his injuries.
He was known to be a transient who frequented the Isla Vista area, and recently
had been staying for prolonged periods of time in that area.
Sheriff’s detectives conducting the investigation
into this homicide continue to follow-up on leads to the identity of the
suspect or suspects in this case, and are seeking additional witnesses who may
have information regarding the assault. Any information about this incident can
