Buellton chamber mixer featured networking

Buellton’s Rabobank was the host of the Buellton Chamber of Commerce meeting on Oct. 15.

Testa Catering of Santa Maria provided mini muffuletta sandwiches made with olive tapenade, cheese and Italian meats, other finger-food appetizers and desserts.

The Hitching Post label wine was poured by winemaker Grey Hartley, and the local Agin brothers’ band, Territorial Law, provided entertainment.

“We had a very good turnout, especially considering that it was held on the same night as the presidential debate, and the Dodgers were playing the National League Championships,” said Brian Libera, bank vice president and branch manager.

Approximately 65 business people mingled and networked. Balloons and happy birthday wishes were given to Candy Rioux, office manager of the chamber.

“Awareness of our mixers has been growing,” said Kathy Vreeland, director of member services for the Buellton chamber.

“We had a great attendance. Our raffle had everything from homemade cookies and apple pie to concert tickets at the Chumash Casino and everything in between.”

The Buellton Senior Center had a fall and Halloween table to attract attention to its raffle for a brand new black Classic Huffy Beach Cruiser, said to have belonged to a crew member of the USA network’s television show, “Monk,” with tickets selling for $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds benefit the senior center. The drawing date is Dec. 10.

“Our next membership mixer will be on Nov. 19, with special secret guests,” Vreeland said.

The November mixer will be held at 201 Industrial Way, from 5-7 p.m. It will be hosted by M&S Engineering, New West Catering, Decadence Fine Cake and Santa Ynez Valley Properties.

The Buellton chamber has more than 150 members. Membership fees are $125 annually for businesses or $50 for personal or nonprofit members. The next meeting is slated for Nov. 19. For further information, call (805) 688-7829 or visit the Web site, www.buellton.org.
