1989 class reunion

A 20 year reunion dinner for the Santa Ynez Valley Union High School class of 1989 is scheduled for 6 – 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 at Alisal Ranch Grill, at the Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang.

Until June 30, advance purchase tickets are available for $65 per person. After that date, tickets are $75 per person. Adults only.

The next day at noon, a family picnic welcomes all ages at River View Park in Buellton.

Advance tickets are $15 per person with children 4 and older $5 each. Younger children are free.

After July 1, picnic tickets are $20 for adults and $7 for children.

Meet at noon at the park by the pergola.

Fireworks at mission

Plans are set for the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza at the Old Mission Santa Ines in Solvang on Saturday, July 4. The event is sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary Club.

Organizers promise fun, food and entertainment or one and all starting at 1 p.m and continuing until the Fireworks Spectacular at 9 later in the evening.

Special features this year include a wine and beer garden and activities for children. Live music will be provided by the reggae-style band Stonehorse and country and folk music’s The Sunshine Brothers.

Lynni Gilfry will sing the national anthem just before the fireworks.

Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the gate.

Children under 5 are admitted free. Tickets are available at several locations in Solvang, Buellton, Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. Look for the colorful “Tickets Available” signs.

 

July Fourth Jamboree

The Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale will present its first free concert 2 p.m. July 4 in the Veteran’s Memorial Building on Mission Drive in Solvang. Directed by Chris A. Bowman, the chorale will be accompanied by the same Blue Grass band that played at the three Spring Concerts in Buellton: Helen Townsend, piano; Diane Byington, fiddle; Chris Judge, guitar/banjo; Brendon Statum, bass; and Rex Harte, drums/percussion.
