Third Wednesday on tap

Solvang Third Wednesday Sidewalk Sale is slated from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 18. All stores that register will be allowed to have their merchandise for sale in front of their stores.

Triathlon runs Aug. 14

The City of Lompoc Parks, Recreation & Urban Forestry Department will host the 4th annual Lompoc Sprint Triathlon on August 14, 2010 at the Lompoc Aquatic Center. This year’s Sprint Triathlon has been re-named for our title sponsor “Hank Hudson” Memorial Triathlon, a longtime resident and business owner of Lompoc.

Participants may register at the Anderson Recreation Center, 125 West Walnut Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Aug.13.

The entry cost, that will include the race T-shirt, is $50 for individuals, $90 for relays.Entry forms are available at the Anderson Recreation Center, The Lompoc Aquatic Center and at Course maps are located at the City of Lompoc website,

Reception, auction Aug. 14

“Sunlight and Water,” a photographic exhibition by Mark Robert Halper celebrating the winemakers of Santa Barbara County, is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Avant Tapas and Wine, located at 35 Industrial Way in Buellton. Tickets are $47 apiece and benefit The Valley Foundation.

Sogno del Fiore gathering Aug. 21

On Saturday, Aug. 21, The Sogno (Dreams) Del Fiore Ranch in Santa Ynez will host the 5th Annual Sogno del Fiore “Gathering” Wine Tasting Dinner. This year, the event is a benefit for People Helping People (PHP) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Wheels ‘n’ Windmills on Aug. 28

This year the organizers of the non-profit organization will again be showcasing more than 300 Classic Cars, Trucks, Hot Rods, Race cars, and Race boats to again raise money for the Happy Endings Animal Rescue Sanctuary and The National Progeria Foundation. This year’s event will also be providing funds for the Solvang “Recreation and Team Sheriff’s” program. The event is held in downtown Solvang from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. This year’s show is expected to draw an estimated 10,000 spectators so mark your calendars and join us in beautiful Solvang.
