Danish Days
Sponsored by the charitable Danish Days Foundation, the village known as the “Danish Capital of America” celebrates its 74th annual Danish Days from Friday, Sept. 17, through Sunday, Sept. 19. The event honors the establishment of Solvang by Danish-Americans in 1911 and continues to preserve Solvang’s authentic Danish heritage. The theme for this year’s celebration is “That’s Sooooooo Danish.”

Save the Mustang
Bella Cavalli Farms & Vineyards will host a fundraiser Sept. 3-5 for “Return to Freedom, American Wild Horse Sanctuary,” featuring the work of Kimerlee Curyl, to help save the Mustang. Meet founder Neda DeMayo, owner Jeff Lockwood and Curyl from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4.The location is 959 E. Highway 246 in Buellton.
Church on the move
Beginning Sept. 5, Valley Harvest Church of Santa Ynez will move their Sunday service to the Grange Hall in Los Olivos. The new location will provide additional ministry opportunities and outreach. The church will continue to expand its Christian blue-grass and country and western worship style with an appearance by the IBMA award-winning group, III Tyme Out who will be appearing Oct. 24 with a potluck to follow. There will not be nursery service provided at the new location however children of all ages are welcome in the service. Library to hold sale
The Solvang Library will be holding its Fall Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. The sale includes many nearly-new donated items as well as books recently cleared from the shelves. The sale is run by volunteers, and proceeds from the sale will benefit both the Solvang Library Volunteer Program and the library’s collection. The library welcomes donations until Tuesday, Sept. 21 for the sale, and then anytime after the sale. Solvang Library is located at 1745 Mission Drive, Solvang. For more information call 688-4214.
Baez coming to Solvang
Tales from the Tavern is proud to announce a special evening with Joan Baez, Under the Stars at the Solvang Festival Theater, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30. In the name of blood
The Solvang Vikings will hold their 36th Annual Blood Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Solvang Elementary School between 3-7 p.m.The Vikings hope to have more than 80 pints of blood donated. All donors of blood at this event will be rewarded with a $25 vouchers, which can be redeemed at participating restaurants in the Valley on Sept. 15-16. The Vikings welcome all donors.
