The Santa Ynez Valley AYSO All-Stars traveled to Arroyo Grande and Nipomo last weekend for the Central Coast Classic. The U14 Girls are shown with their medals after finishing first in their division. Due to the heavy rain, the championship game for the U14 Boys could not be played between Santa Ynez and San Luis Obispo. Instead, penalty kicks from the mark were used to determine the winner of the tournament and San Luis won. The teams had tied 1-1 earlier in the tournament. Santa Ynez will host its own Winter Classic Tournament on Jan. 30- 31. Teams will be traveling from as far as Beverly Hills, Palos Verdes, Pacific Palisades, Van Nuys, Long Beach and Bakersfield to play the local area teams from Santa Ynez, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Nipomo, 5 Cities, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Ventura and Orcutt. Games are free to the public and will be played at SYVUHS (U14 teams), Dunn School (U14 & U12 teams) and SY Elementary (U12 & U10 teams). Schedules and more information can be found at the SY AYSO web site, www.aysosyv.org.
