For week ending Nov. 27; water temperature 59 degrees

Trout fishing kicked into high gear this past week, as the recent plant went on the chew. Shore anglers did well in Harvey’s Bay and E Point. Power bait and nightcrawlers worked for those who wanted to soak bait. Kastmasters, small spinners and Rapalas also took fish to 3 pounds. Trollers reported limit or near-limit action on both recent and holdover rainbows anywhere on the surface to 30 feet down in the water column. Leadcore fished 3 to 5 colors with dodger/needlefish combos and flat-lined Rapalas was the best way to go. The next plant is slated for Dec. 13. Bass action is fair and most fish being plucked out on bottom bouncing techniques, anywhere from 20 feet to 40 feet deep. Both species showing equally well. There were a few anglers targeting crappie that did well trolling around the narrows and the island in 25 feet of water. A handful of cats also were caught using cut mackerel. Bowfishing reports were scarce due to the lack of archers.
