A 57-year-old male from Buellton was cited for driving on a suspended license after an officer pulled him over because his vehicle’s brake light was inoperable. The man’s license had been suspended because of a previous DUI. His car was impounded for 30 days.

Citizen’s Arrest

5000 block of Figueroa Mountain Road, Los Olivos

A 60-year-old female from Santa Maria was placed under citizen’s arrest by a security guard after she jumped over a fence onto private property, despite repeat warnings. The woman claimed she had every right to be on the property because she was the wife of the property owner; the security guard said the woman was delusional and had never been married to the property owner. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 38-year-old female from Spring Valley was arrested for possessing a controlled substance after police received reports from casino security of the woman masturbating in her car. Her urine sample tested positive for methamphetamine and police found a small amount of the drug in her car. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 29-year-old male from Oxnard was arrested for being drunk in public after casino security reported that the man was unconscious and lying face-down in a puddle of vomit. After medical assistance arrived, the man regained consciousness. The man admitted that he drank six beers. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 44-year-old female from Oxnard was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance after an officer on patrol at the casino observed that she appeared to display symptoms of drug use. The woman’s urine tested positive for methamphetamine. She was cited and released.

Mission Drive and Alisal Street, Solvang

A man from Solvang was cited for driving without a valid California driver license, no car insurance, expired registration, and having a false Social Security card, after an officer pulled him over because his vehicle did not have a license plate. The man’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the Social Security card confiscated.

1400 block of Dove Meadow Drive, Santa Ynez

A 41-year-old male from Santa Maria was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, after police received reports of a suspicious vehicle in the Veterans Center parking lot. While speaking to the man, an officer observed that the man appeared to be nervous and had involuntary facial tremors. The man admitted to smoking speed. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

 

Grand Theft

Sagunto and Edison Streets, Santa Ynez

A 21-year-old female from San Juan Capistrano reported that an unknown suspect had stolen her purse from her unlocked car. The suspect(s) also stole her iPod nano. The case was suspended pending leads.

Arrest

600 block of Floral Drive, Solvang

A 48-year-old female from Solvang was arrested for being drunk in public after police were dispatched to a residence for an unknown medical problem. When police arrived, they found a woman sitting on a couch with a blanket over her legs and waist; apparently the woman had urinated on herself. The woman reportedly knocked on the property owner’s door, and when he answered, he found the woman only wearing a T-shirt. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Vandalism

3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez (Chumash Casino)

A 44-year-old female from Santa Maria reported that an 18-year-old male from Camarillo punctured her tires. After obtaining surveillance tapes, police observed a car full of men in their mid-20s stop in the parking lot and puncture the woman’s tire. Prior to this incident the four men were observed vandalizing and stealing property from another vehicle at the casino.

Police contacted two of the suspects, but they refused to talk. The case was submitted to the District Attorney for review.

 

Grand Theft

900 North Refugio Road, Santa Ynez (YMCA)

A 48-year-old female from Solvang reported that a female suspect, probably in her late 30s to early 40s, stole her purse from the backseat of her vehicle, which was parked in the YMCA parking lot.

After returning to her vehicle the victim found her purse missing and her back door ajar.

Police arrived on the scene, but realizing that all her credit cards and personal information were in her purse, the victim went home to cancel the cards.

As she pulled up into her driveway, she notices an unknown vehicle in her driveway. She then found a suspicious woman walking towards her. When the victim warned that she was calling the police, the suspect fled, throwing her purse into the street.

The woman’s purse was recovered and returned to her by a driver who witnessed the suspect’s car fleeing and the purse being thrown from the car. The case was sent to detectives for a follow-up.

A 47-year-old female from Lompoc was arrested for having two outstanding warrants for her arrest after police contacted her at the casino. She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.

Theft

1660 Copenhagen Drive, Solvang (Rabobank)

An in-home caregiver reported that someone had stolen her client’s disability access card and took more than $300 from her account.

The care giver suspected the woman’s daughter of stealing the card and the money and called the disability office. The disability office refused to reissue the card and the suspected daughter claimed she did not know the whereabouts of the card.

Police are in the process of retrieving a surveillance video from the bank. The case was sent to detectives for a follow-up.
