Holly M. Wright

Holly Michelle Wright passed away Nov. 10, 2011, in Pahrump, Nev. She was born Feb. 20, 1990, in Denver, Colo. Holly had lived in Pahrump and Las Vegas most of her life, and in Santa Ynez and most recently in Santa Barbara.

She was of the Christian faith and attended both Santa Barbara Calvary Chapel and The Ranch Church here in the Valley. She adored her 2-year-old daughter, Milee Ann. Holly was a talented artist and a writer of poems. She loved riding ATVs and dirt bikes.

While in high school she was on the wrestling team for Santa Ynez Union High School. Holly was a champion. She loved the Lord.

Surviving are her daughter, Milee Ann Nicholson, parents, Donn Wright of Pahrump, Nev., and Lisa Wright of Santa Ynez, Calif. Sisters Breann (Brian) Larkin of Pahrump, Candy (David) White of Las Vegas, Step-sister Julie (Josue) Pena of Woodland Hills, Calif., brothers Cole Wright and Andrew Waxman-Wright of Santa Ynez; niece and nephews: Brittney, Adam, Davey and Calvin. Aunts and uncles Sheila and Dan Sabol of Las Vegas, Connie Wright and Claudia and Bill Hoy of Denver, Co; three cousins in Las Vegas and three cousins in Denver, Lloyd Waxman of Santa Ynez, Margaret Young of Pahrump, and the Nicholson, Montrone, and Weaver extended family members of Pahrump and Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Donald and Dorothy Wright, Great-Grandparents Hazel and Harold Tremaine and Hubert and Bernice Webb, Baby Danyul Weaver and Uncles Doug and Roger Wright.

Memorial will be held at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School Gym at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.


Ruth Ilene Davis

Ruth Ilene Davis passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, with her family by her side. She was 83.

Ruth was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to Leland and Mildred Robertson, the oldest of six children. She attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis; and was a registered nurse, graduating from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, Ind., in 1949.

On Jan. 1, 1950, Ruth married the love of her life, Jimmie Davis. They moved to California from Indiana in 1950, and to the Santa Ynez Valley in 1959, where they raised their family. Jim predeceased her in 1999. Ruth worked many years as Dr. Kaslow’s nurse in Solvang. She was the past president of Jonata Elementary School PTA. Ruth and her husband, Jim, were heavily involved with the Buellton Senior Center, as well as instrumental in founding the Buellton Senior Citizen’s Thrift Store.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her family consisting of daughter, Diana Lynn Chaves and husband John of Santa Barbara, sons, James Michael Davis of Arroyo Grande, and Douglas Scott Davis, of Webster, N.Y.; grandchildren Jed Davis of Potter Valley, Luke Davis of Potter Valley, Dustin Davis of Middleton, Idaho, Jennifer Chaves Whilt of La Canada, Angie Chaves of Carpinteria, Chelsea Chaves of Santa Barbara, and Carson Davis of Webster, N.Y., eight great-grandchildren; sister, Martha (Marty) Bell of Huntington Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Buellton Senior Center.

Memorial Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church in Ballard, with a reception immediately following at the Alisal Guest Ranch.
